Maintaining your
Evo-Spirit electric skateboard

Good habits to ride longer

An electric skateboard is all about freedom, flow and the thrill of the ride. But like any good gear, it deserves a bit of attention to stay at its best. Maintaining your Evo-Spirit board means avoiding surprise breakdowns, preserving your range and keeping your ride smooth and powerful. And the good news: a few simple steps can extend the life of your board without any hassle.

After every session

Cleaning and inspection

After every ride, especially on wet, sandy or dusty ground:

  • Give the grip tape a brush to maintain good foot grip.
  • Use a blower or a small brush to remove dust around the motors, belts and drive gear.
  • Forget the wet cloth or water jet: moisture and electronics don't mix.

Doing it right after your session prevents dirt from building up.

Check before storing

  • Check the tightness of the bolts (trucks, motors, enclosure).
  • Inspect the condition of the deck and wheels.
  • Test the free spin of the wheels, with no friction or unusual noise.

To gear up easily, check out the Evo-Spirit maintenance kit: everything you need to clean, oil and look after your board.

Components to watch

Adjustment

Adjusting belt tension

The belts transfer power from the motors to the wheels. They need to be tensioned just right:

  • Too loose: risk of slapping during braking or acceleration.
  • Too tight: accelerated wear, motor overheating and risk of mechanical failure (truck axle, motor mount…).

Simple test: ride at about 20 km/h and hit a hard brake. If you hear a sharp slap, your belt is too loose. Adjust it before your next ride.

Cleaning the drive gear

Drive gears often accumulate sand and dust:

  • Clean them gently with a fine brush or a dry paintbrush.
  • No need for grease on the belts: the drier, the better the grip.
  • Check that nothing is stuck in the teeth: a foreign object can knock the belt off.
Bearings and bushings
Smooth ride

Bearings and bushings

  • Clean the bearings with a mild degreaser.
  • Add a small drop of oil to keep them spinning smoothly.
  • The bushings can also be lightly greased for more comfort and less squeaking.
Winter storage

Drying and preparation

Before putting the board away for winter:

  • Make sure it is completely dry, especially around the motors and bearings.
  • Leave it in the open air for a few hours to let any moisture evaporate.
  • Never leave your board in direct sunlight or in extreme cold before storage.

Standing water and extreme temperatures are the worst enemies of the mechanics and electronics.

Long term

Storage and long-term care

  • Battery between 70 and 100% charge before storing, to avoid deep discharge.
  • A dry, temperate location, with no moisture or frost.
  • Avoid cold garages or damp basements.
  • If you don't ride often, run the motors for a few minutes every two weeks, then recharge to keep the cells active.

In spring, do a full check (bolts, belts, battery, tyre pressure) and your board will be ready to hit the road again.

A little maintenance, a lot of freedom

Taking care of your Evo-Spirit electric skateboard means extending the riding pleasure. A few simple steps like a quick brush, a belt check, a fast charge and good battery management are enough to keep your board ready for every session.

At Evo-Spirit, we ride with passion and respect for the gear. A well-maintained skateboard means maximum range and many more kilometres of fun.

Frequently asked questions

Electric skateboard maintenance FAQ

How do I clean my Evo-Spirit electric skateboard without damaging it?

Avoid water and wet cloths at all costs. Use a soft brush or blower to remove dust and sand around the motors, belts and drive gear. Also brush the grip tape to maintain good traction.

How often should I check bolts and mechanical parts?

A quick check after every session is enough: inspect the tightness of bolts (trucks, motors, enclosure), the condition of the deck and the wheel spin. This prevents vibrations and breakdowns.

How do I adjust belt tension?

Test at 20 km/h: if you hear a slap when braking hard, the belts are too loose. If they're too tight, the motors will overheat quickly. Adjust them so they're flexible but without excessive play.

How do I maintain the bearings and bushings?

Clean the bearings with a mild degreaser, then add a small drop of suitable oil. Bushings can be lightly greased to reduce squeaking and improve ride smoothness.

What are the best habits to preserve the battery?

Never leave the battery empty for several days. Recharge after every ride, without leaving it plugged in unnecessarily once full. For long-term storage, keep the charge between 50 and 70% and avoid extreme temperatures.

How do I prepare my electric skateboard for winter?

Before storing it, dry it completely, especially around the motors. Store it in a dry, temperate place with the battery at half charge. In spring, do a full check before hitting the road again.

Does my riding style affect the skateboard's lifespan?

Yes! Starting with a small push, accelerating gradually and adapting the ride mode to the terrain reduces power consumption and wear. A smooth riding style extends the life of your board and its components.

Where is the Evo-Spirit after-sales service for repairs?
