Electric Skateboarding in Greece
Regulations 2026
In Greece, electric skateboard regulations remain unclear. Here's what we know and our advice for riding safely.
📋 Complete legal uncertainty
Electric skateboards are not yet integrated into Greek law.
A reform is in preparation to regulate new mobility devices, but no official date has been announced.
🧭 Official status
On sidewalks: tolerated only at walking speed (≤ 6 km/h).
On the road: informal tolerance possible up to 25 km/h, by analogy with bicycles.
Mandatory labelling for electric vehicles: a permanent plate or label must indicate the manufacturer's name, top speed, and an identification number.
📋 In practice
E-skates have no official legal framework.
They are therefore considered illegal on public roads, but sometimes tolerated at low speeds, depending on the area and the goodwill of local authorities.
📋 📌 Rider tips
Ride at a reduced speed (6 to 20 km/h max).
Avoid main roads and stick to quiet pedestrian or private areas.
Install lighting and a manufacturer's marking if possible.
Ride with caution and discretion, as penalties can be strict in case of violations.
🏁 In summary
In Greece, e-skates remain in a legal grey area:
tolerated at low speeds, but not permitted on public roads.
Until the law evolves, the safest thing to do is to ride with caution, favouring private or secure spaces.
