Electric Skateboarding in Denmark
Regulations 2026
In Denmark, electric skateboard regulations remain unclear. Here's what we know and our advice for riding safely.
📋 ✅ Nationwide trial since 2018
Denmark is one of Europe's pioneering countries: since 2018, it has been officially testing the use of light electric vehicles, including electric skateboards.
This experimental phase allows them to be used on public roads, provided that specific rules are followed.
⚙️ Legal conditions
Weight less than 10 kg.
Top speed 20 km/h.
Range less than 30 km.
Lights and reflectors visible at 300 m.
Minimum rider age of 15 years.
Riding on cycle paths (on the road only if no cycle path is available).
Wearing a helmet is mandatory.
Max blood alcohol content 0.5 ‰.
🚧 Where to ride
✅ Cycle paths: permitted.
✅ Roadway: permitted only if there is no cycle path.
❌ Pavements and pedestrian zones: forbidden.
These regulations remain experimental, but they clearly regulate their use.
Denmark is thus one of the few countries to officially permit e-skates in public spaces, provided they are light, speed-limited, and well-equipped.
🏁 In summary
Denmark adopts an innovative and responsible approach:
e-skates are permitted, but within a strict and safe framework.
A pioneering country where you can ride freely but cautiously, as long as you follow the rules of the trial.
🛹 What Evo-Spirit offers
In the absence of a precise legal framework in Denmark, we recommend riding cautiously and opting for a board speed-limited to 25 km/h with full lighting.
