REGULATIONS 2026

Electric Skateboards in Denmark
2026 Regulations

In Denmark, the regulations for electric skateboards are still unclear. Here's what we know and our advice for riding safely.

🟡 Unclear law / no specific framework
🏎️ Top speed: 20 km/h
🛡️ Insurance: Not specified
⛑️ Helmet: Mandatory
👤 Minimum age: 15 years old
💡 Lighting: Mandatory
💸 Max fine: Variable

📋 ✅ National Trial Program Since 2018

Denmark is one of Europe's pioneering countries: since 2018, it has been officially testing the use of light electric vehicles, including electric skateboards.
This experimental phase allows their use on public roads, provided specific rules are followed.

⚙️ Legal Requirements

  • Weight under 10 kg.

  • Top speed 20 km/h.

  • Range under 30 km.

  • Lights and reflectors visible from 300 m.

  • Rider must be at least 15 years old.

  • Ride on bike lanes (only on the road if no bike lane is available).

  • Helmet is mandatory.

  • Max blood alcohol content 0.5 ‰.

🚧 Where to Ride

  • Bike lanes: permitted.

  • Roads: only permitted if there is no bike lane.

  • Sidewalks and pedestrian areas: forbidden.

This regulation remains experimental, but it clearly defines the practice.
Denmark is thus one of the few countries to officially authorize e-skates in public spaces, provided they are light, speed-limited, and well-equipped.

L'essentiel

Denmark adopts an innovative and responsible approach:
e-skates are authorized, but within a strict and secure framework.
A pioneering country where you can ride freely but cautiously, as long as the experimental rules are respected.

🛹 What Evo-Spirit Offers

Given the lack of a precise legal framework in Denmark, we recommend riding cautiously and choosing a board limited to 25 km/h with full lighting.
